First Brahmaputra sailing expedition by NCC cadets
Lachit-1, the first Brahmaputra sailing expedition undertaken by a team of 60 NCC cadets, selected from various colleges in Assam, was flagged in at the Pandu Port, Guwahati on Oct 25, 2019. Organized by the NCC Directorate, Shillong, the expedition covered 220 km from Biswanath Charali to Guwahati in three sailing boats, provided by the NCC Naval Units. The Indian Army Eastern Command provided the safety and support vessels. During the 10-day journey, they also spread social awareness messages.
