Largest Virtual Choir Singing in Indian Language
Jesvin James Padayattil, an Indian expatriate based in Worthing, Sussex, UK, organized the largest virtual choir singing in an Indian language, involving 183 singers below the age of 18 years from 14 different countries on Oct 8, 2020. They sang “Snehamam Eeshoye…”, a Christian devotional song in Malayalam, written and composed by Jesvin himself.
First woman IMF Chief Economist
India-born Gita Gopinath, a US-based Harvard University professor, joined the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as its Chief Economist in the first week of January 2019, becoming the first woman to occupy the top post. Born to TV Gopinath and Vijayalakshmi from Kerala, she is married to Iqbal Dhaliwal of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Gita is also Economic Advisor to the Chief Minister of Kerala.

Overseas Indian population, estimated at 1.75 crore, make the largest community of international migrants in the world in 2019 while the total number of migrants globally reached 27.2 crore, according to a UN release. Migrants from Mexico (1.18 crore) and China (1.07 crore) form the second and third largest diaspora respectively.
