Para swimming records – Rimo Saha
Rimo Saha (b June 29, 1990), an international para Channel swimmer with 80% disability on lower right leg from Howrah, West Bengal, India, who started his swimming career with the Mumbai National in 2004 has bagged 48 gold, 37 silver and 17 bronze medals in National Para Swimming Championships and 16 gold medals in Open Water Sea Swimming Competitions since then. In 2018, he crossed the English Channel (from Dover, UK to Audinghene, France) in relay format (12 hr 46 min – National Record), followed by the Catalina Channel, Los Angeles, USA twice in 2019 – with a National Record 10 hr 59 min on August 15 and an Asian Record 11 hr 35 min on Nov 2 respectively.
First Indian to win a medal in international skiing
Aanchal Thakur (21) from Burua village near Manali, Himachal Pradesh won a bronze medal at the Alpine Ejder 3200 Cup, organised by the International Ski Federation (ISF) in Turkey. She won the medal in the slalom race category on Jan 9, 2018.
Weightlifting record at Commonwealth Games
Saikhom Mirabai Chanu won 48 kg Weightlifting gold at Commonwealth Games 2018 with the Games’ record on April 5, 2018. On her way to the crown, in fact, she broke six records in six lifts – 80 kg, 84 kg and 86 kg in Snatch and 103 kg, 107 kg and 110 kg in Clean and Jerk – to stand first in the women’s 48 kg, ending with a score of 196 kg. She broke the previous CWG record of 175 kg set by Nigeria’s Augustina Nwaokolo in 2010.

To stir up excitement and enthusiasm for the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup INDIA 2017 event to be held in Kochi, the Government of Kerala under the auspices of the Department of Sports & Youth Welfare Affairs and Kerala Sports Council organized the unique ‘One Million Goals’ event in which a record 20,82,996 goals were scored by the public at goal posts set up across all the 971 panchayats, 72 muncipalities and six corporations of the State from 3.00-7.00 pm on Sept 27, 2017. The programme was conducted under the chief patronage of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, FIFA U-17 World Cup Nodal Officer A P M Mohammed Hanish, IAS and Director of Sports Sanjayankumar, IFS. Largest inter playschool sports league
Samaresh Shah of White Canvas India, NOIDA, UP organized Kids Sports League (KSL), the country’s largest Inter Playschool Sports Meet for Ramagya Group at Ramagya School Grounds in NOIDA on Feb 25, 2018. KSL-2018 had a participation of 680 young children from various playschools across the state competing in five different sports events under the age categories of 1.5 – 3 years and 3 – 5 years.
