First diesel-to-electric converted locomotive in service

For the first time in the world, Indian Railways achieved conversion of diesel locomotive into electric locomotive at its Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) facility in Varanasi, UP on Feb 28, 2018 and on Feb 19, 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the first such converted 10000 hp electric loco in regular operation from Varanasi.
