India’s only volcano active again!
The only live volcano in the country, situated on Barren Island in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, became active again spewing smoke and lava on Jan 23, 2017. It continued to erupt in small episodes for about 5-10 minutes. After lying dormant for 150 years, the volcano had erupted in 1991, followed by occasional eruptions till 2013.
