Largest Christmas Crib
Holy Cross Shrine Church, Mapranam, a parish in the Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Irinjalakuda, Kerala, India made the largest Christmas Crib spread across an area of 5,261 sq m (1.3 acre) within the church campus during the Christmas season 2017. The giant crib created by a team of 50 young parishioners attracted hundreds of visitors from Dec 24, 2017 to Jan 7, 2018. It featured Nativity-related scenes including life-size statues of the Holy Family, angels, Santa Claus, Christmas tree, the City of Bethlehem, royal palace, Sea of Galilee, caves, jungle, hills, mountains, flowing stream, bridges, tree-house, large-size models of wild animals, dragon and an active volcano. A huge white star (12×12 m) with a 65 m long tail, 6.1 m (20 ft) tall Eiffel Tower, a modern township, airport, train, tunnel, lighthouse, boat service, video game wall etc were also part of the crib. Use of light and sound effects also added to the ambience.
