Largest plastic bezoar removed
Dr Sanjay Aggarwal, a Laparoscopic Surgeon at Sai Sanjivni Hospital, Solan, Himachal Pradesh and his team operated upon a 55-year-old woman patient and removed a 7-ft long plastic bezoar from her stomach on Nov 8, 2016, making it the largest such plastic bezoar removed in a surgical procedure. With the large and rare nest-like formation of plastic threads occupying her stomach up to the end of small intestine, the patient was unable to take normal food and was on a liquid diet for the past two years. She had a craving for plastic threads from gunny bags and been ingesting them for many years. The surgery was done in two hours.
