Most cartoon exhibitions held simultaneously
To celebrate Kerala Piravi Dinam, the day marking the birth of Kerala State, a unique exhibition of 60 cartoons by Cartoonist Unnikrishnan of Kochi, Kerala was held simultaneously at 10 centres in 10 States from Nov 1, 2017. Titled ‘Kannirukkikaalam’, the exhibition attracted hundreds of viewers in New Delhi (Delhi), Kochi (Kerala), Thane (Maharashtra), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Vasco da Gama (Goa), Jagatyal (Telangana), Kolkata (West Bengal) and Ludhiana (Punjab). The collection of cartoons, which originally featured in Malayalam daily Mathrubhumi, depicts interesting transformations in the Kerala society during the 60 years after the State’s formation. The entire event was organised by his friends and well-wishers across the country. Earlier, he had held the first such exhibition at Thiruvananthapuram on Nov 30, 2016.
