World’s largest contingent of school students to accomplish Everest Base Camp trek

A team of 25 students comprising 11 girls and 14 boys, aged between 7-16 years, from JGI Schools, Hyderabad, Telangana, India successfully completed Everest Base Camp Trek on Oct 18, 2017, becoming the world’s largest contingent of school children to do it. They started from Kathmandu, Nepal on Oct 10, 2017 and reached the Base Camp, situated 5,364 m above mean sea level, after nine days of trekking. The contingent, led by Chandrashekar D P was also accompanied by five adults including him.
