World’s largest Vishukkani
The world’s largest Vishukkani event took place at Sree Bhavaneeswara Temple of Palluruthy Veli, Kochi, Kerala on the day of Vishu festival on April 14, 2017. At around 5.00 pm, a group of 1,340 women, dressed in Kerala’s traditional Set Mundu and holding a ‘thalam’ (decorated plate), entered the temple gate and had the auspicious darshan of Vishukkani. They also received Vishu Kaineettam (blessed handouts) from the temple priest, following which some of them put up a Thiruvathira kali performance. The event was organised by P B Usha of Palarivattom, Kochi in association with A R Rakesh of Bengaluru. Later, a bank cheque of contributions for cancer patients, collected from the participants, was handed over to Dr Chitrathara, Oncologist, Lakeshore Hospital, Kochi.
